Botanica Wines

Established in 2009, Botanica Wines, founded by Ginny Povall, a self-taught winemaker from the U.S., embodies a unique fusion of American spirit and South African terroir. Inspired by Protea Heights, a historic farm in Stellenbosch known for cultivating indigenous protea flowers since the 1940s, Ginny's botanical approach permeates her wine brands. The estate, spanning 21.6 hectares, showcases eight protea varieties, four of which are exclusive hybrids. Ginny's vineyards, established in 2009-2010, contribute to the Arboretum, Big Flower, and Flowergirl wine ranges, featuring Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Albariño. Beyond winemaking, Botanica embraces a retreat with Sugarbird Manor, a 4-star luxury guesthouse, offering a seamless blend of nature and hospitality in the Cape winelands.
