Château de Lavernette

France (3).png

Château de Lavernette, situated at the crossroads of Beaujolais and the Mâconnais in Leynes, holds a rich history dating back to 1596. The estate, passed down through the Lavernette family, was a Seigneurie administering justice. René de Boissieu, marrying the Lavernette heiress in the 20th century, marked a familial transition. Bertrand and Anke de Boissieu pioneered ecological farming in Beaujolais with reasoned fight principles, while in 2006, their son Xavier and American wife Kerrie embraced biodynamics, achieving certification in 2010 for their 28 acres of vineyards. A unique experiment comparing organic and biodynamic treatments on Chardonnay vines revealed a preference for biodynamic farming. Today, Château de Lavernette, with its enchanting vineyards, stands as a testament to centuries of familial stewardship and a commitment to biodynamic viticulture.
